You are connected to a private network with exclusive use of students and teachers for academics proposals

If you arrived to this page is because you connected to the guest e-U network. On this network you will only have access to detailed information about the configuration of the e-U network, which is only available for students and teachers that belong to Universities who participates on the Virtual Campus Project. When connected to the internet, you can check here if your University participated http://www.e-u.pt/universidades/index.asp.
To bind your equipment to wireless network of the Foz Campus of the Oporto Regional Center Portuguese Catholic University, you must assure the following requirements:

- Network card compatible with the 802.11b/g and certified by the Wifi Alliance
  (http://certifications.wi-fi.org/wbcs_certified_products.php)

- Firewall active

- Anti-virus active and updated

- Updated operating system

After verifying the fulfillment of these requirements you must follow the following steps to configure the connection. For other platforms contact the DSTI (e-mail: suporte@porto.ucp.pt/tel. 226196297).
 

Client Configuration for Windows XP SP2 client (English):

  1. With the PC in a place with wireless network coverage, open Network Connections (Start – Settings – Network Connections), select the Wireless link with the right side button of the mouse and select the option View Available Wireless Networks (Fig.1).

  1. Select the option Change advanced settings (Fig.2).

  1. Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click on Properties (Fig.3).

  1. Guarantee that you made the selection like Fig.4.

  1. Returning to the wireless connection properties, pass toward tab Wireless Networks and click Add (Fig.5).

  1. In Network name (SSID) fill with e-U (Case Sensitive). Pass toward tab Authentication (Fig.7).

  1. On EAP Type choose Protected EAP (PEAP) and remove the option Authenticate as computer when computer information is available. Click Properties (Fig.7).

  1. Configure the options as indicated in Fig.9. Click Configure.

  1. Remove option showed (Fig.9). Click Ok until the initial window appears, where you can verify the configured connection (Fig.10).

  1. Click OK and close the window. Wait until the authentication window appears (Fig.11). If it doesn't show up, you should try to Repair the connection (Fig.12) by clicking with the right button on the connection tray icon. If it doesn't work try to disconnect the network Guest e-U and force the connection to e-U network (Fig. 13).

  1. When the autentiaction popup appears (Fig.11) on the bellow right side of your screen, click on it to introduce your network credentials in the format username@ucpcrp.pt and introduce your password on the next field (Fig.14).

Note: the username should have been previously supplied by DSTI for email and network access.

  1. After a successful connection, the following message will appear:

  1. In the end you can confirm your connection to network e-U and the IP address (Fig.17).

  2. You can now access the Internet, by configuring your browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, etc…) without a proxy (Fig. 18/19).

Client Configuration for Windows Vista (English):

  1. Assuming who already have the certificate, proceed with the installation by clicking the right side button of the mouse and selecting Install Certificate (Fig.1).

  1. Select Install Certificate (Fig.2).

  1. Select Place all certificates in the following store and click Next (Fig.4).

  1. Select the Wireless connection e-U with the right side button of the mouse and select Properties (Fig.14).

  1. In the tab Security select the options like Fig.15. Click Settings.

  1. Select the certificate UCPCRP CertAuth (Fig.16). Click Configure....

  1. Remove the option Automatically use my Windows logon name and password (and domain if any) (Fig.17). Click Ok until the initial window appears, where you can verify the configured connection (Fig.18).

  1. Wait for the authentication warning (Fig.19).

  1. When the authentication popup appears (Fig.19) on the bellow right side of your screen, click on it to introduce your network credentials in the format username@ucpcrp.pt and introduce your password on the next field (Fig.20).

  1. When the Fig.21 appears, you have successful connected to network e-U. You can confirm by clicking with the right side button of the mouse in the network e-U (Fig.22) and select Properties. Then image on Fig.23 appears.

Configuration for Mac OS X 10.4.x client (English):

  1. With the Mac in a place with wireless network coverage, go the bar menus, click once in the wireless network icon (Fig.1) an click on Open Internet Connect.

  1. In the window will appear the several types of connection. Click on the menu File and select New 802.1X Connection (Fig.2).

  1. Introduce your credentials in the format username followed by @ucpcrp.pt and introduce your password on the next field. On the Wireless Network field, place e-U (Case Sensitive). Click Connect (Fig.3).

  1. After authenticating, a window (Fig.4) appears showing the acceptance of the certificate of the network e-U. Click continue.

  1. You are now connected to the network e-U. When closing the configuration window (Fig.3) the Fig.5 will appear, please click Save with a name at your choice (ex: rede e-U).

Configuration for Linux Ubuntu 7.04 (English):

  1. With the PC in a place with wireless network coverage, click once in the wireless network icon, and click on "Connect to Other Wireless Network..." (Fig.1).

    Wireless Security: WPA Entreprise

  1. In the field “CA Certificate File” select the certificate of the network e-U. (Fig. 4). The certificate can be download > here <.

  1. Click in Connect. If all goes well, the Network Manager will ask for a password. This way you can save your data in a Wallet or Keyring.

Configuration for Windows Mobile 5.0 (English):

  1. With the equipment in a place with wireless network coverage, click on Start menu and select Settings (Fig.1)

  1. On the connections tab, click on Comm Manager (Fig.2).

  1. Click on the icon Wi-Fi to activate the wireless network card. Click Exit (Fig.3).

  1. Make sure you have already installed the Certificate on your mobile device. If not, follow the following steps.
    Copy the certificate to your device (download where) and install it (Fig.4).

  1. Click on the certificate to proceed with the installation. Click Yes to accept (Fig.5).

  1. You may have to force the connection manually, by turning off/on the wireless card on Comm Mannager or selecting the e-U profile and then Connect (Fig.13).

  1. A window of authentication will appear, you should fill in with your network credentials (Fig.14).
