Esta sessão pretende contribuir para um conhecimento mais alargado dos nossos estudantes acerca de Instituições Internacionais, carreiras e formas de acesso, tendo por base testemunhos de ALUMNI que têm feito trajeto nessas instituições.
 

Contaremos com a participação de oradores que colaboram com Instituições de grande relevo internacional como é o caso das Nações Unidas, da Comissão Europeia, do Parlamento Europeu, entre outras.

Daniel Fonseca
Alumnus CPBS

Daniel Madureira Fonseca currently works for the Secretary General in the Risk, Crisis and Business Continuity Unit of the European Parliament in Brussels. Graduated from the Catholic University, with experience at Banco de Portugal and BNP Paribas, he decided to internationalize his career by carrying out the CEMS MIM Program in Dublin, Copenhagen and Switzerland. His entry into the European institutions marks the culmination of this trajectory, where he applies his skills to contribute to the European project

 

  

Mafalda Quintas
Alumna ESB

Since 2011 Mafalda is Science Officer at COST an intergovernmental research funding agency, where she supports networks in transdisciplinary and emerging topics. She focuses on helping the different scientific communities in creating the right conditions for Open and Inclusive spaces to deliver true innovative results and assuring impacts are maximised. Mafalda was part of the core team developing the current COST evaluation procedure and was leader for the simplification of participation and financial rules.
Prior to joining COST, Mafalda was a post-doctoral research fellow in Food Materials Science at UMinho and UCP in Portugal. She published several papers in international peer reviewed journals, coordinated research proposals and projects, and co-supervised of Master and PhD thesis. She was responsible for a network on the identification of the skills needed by food industry professionals.
Mafalda obtained her PhD in 2007 from the Portuguese Catholic University and her diploma work was concerned with the use of statistical/mathematical models to understand the physical and chemical phenomena in food systems.
  

Margarida Pinheiro Torres
Alumna FD

Margarida Pinheiro Torres is a Jurist at the European Commission, where she provides legal advice to the Directorate-General for Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (DG ECHO). 
Her previous experiences includes legal and political analysis and advice on relations between the EU and the United Kingdom, both at the Permanent Representation of Portugal to the European Union and at the General Secretariat of the European Commission, where she focused on the negotiation and implementation of Agreements BREXIT. 
Before moving to Brussels, Margarida worked at a Portuguese law firm where she dedicated herself to Migration Law. He completed internships at the European Union Delegation to the United Nations and at the United Nations Legal Affairs Office, both in New York. 
He graduated in Law from the Portuguese Catholic University in Porto. He completed a Masters in Transnational Law and an LL.M in Law in a European and Global Context, both from Catholica Global School of Law (Universidade Católica Portuguesa). Margarida's experience and academic career demonstrate her competence in legal and political analysis in the areas of International Law, European Law and the European Union's external relations.
  

Marta Henriques Pereira
Alumna FD

International consultant on Peace and Good Governance with over 20 years of professional experience in multilateral cooperation with the United Nations, the European Union, and others. She provides advisory services to government members, parliamentarians, as well as senior officials of international organizations, including Special Representatives of the Secretary-General in Africa, Latin America, Central Europe, the Middle East, and Southwest Asia. 
Before her international career,she practiced law in Madeira Island. With the UnitedNations,she served in five peace keeping missions in various capacities, namely:Kosovo (UNMIK), Haiti (MINUSTAH), Timor-Leste (UNMIT), South Sudan (UNMIS), Democratic Republic of Congo (MONUSCO). With the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), she served in Jordanas Director of the Governance Department and in Timor-Leste as Legal Advisor to Parliamentary Committees. Additionally, she participated in nine European Union election observation missions: Mexico, Ecuador, ElSalvador, Burundi, Bolivia, Mozambique, Myanmar/Burma, and Iraq. Also with the European Union, she served in Somalia within the civilian mission of the Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP).
In the context of bilateral development cooperation, she was deplyed by the Australian Government to the Ministry of State Administration in Timor-Leste to UN Women in Kenya and to UNDP in Senegal.
She holds a law degree, postgraduate degrees in European Union Policies and Law, as well as Alternative Dispute Resolution, all from the Portuguese Catholic University. She also has a Master's degree in Public International Law from Leiden University in the Netherlands and is a doctoral candidate at the University of Birmingham in the United Kingdom.
  

Sebastião Barros Vale
Alumnus FD

Sebastião Barros Vale has been working at the European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS) as a legal officer in the Policy & Consultation unit since April 2023. He previously worked as a Senior Counsel for the US-based leading think tank Future of Privacy Forum, as a Privacy Specialist at Johnson and Johnson and as an Associate Lawyer at Vieira de Almeida e Associados. He has published several reports and academic papers in the area of privacy and data protection, particularly applied to the personalization of online prices and the digital provision of payment services. Together with two co-authors, Barros Vale has been awarded the Stefano Rodotá award in June 2023 by the Council of Europe.
