Programme: International Ventures

Overview

International business makes up a large and growing share of world’s business. Global events and international competition affect small and large companies across industries. There is an increasing number of companies conducting international business and a growing number of start-ups are born global. To internationalise is the result of entrepreneurial decision by managers, being it within existing firms or in new ventures.
Would you like to know how to design an internationalisation strategy for an SME? Would you like to start an international venture? Enrol in this summer course to understand how to face the challenges involved in making business internationally.
You will study theories and practice of international business. Teaching in lectures is closely linked to the team project consisting of the development of an international business plan.

Requirements

Students and recent graduates at undergraduate and graduate level of all areas | Fluency in English | No Portuguese language knowledge is required | More than 18 years old.

 

ECTS

Applicants can obtain 4 ECTS, provided if they attended all sessions and have obtained approval within all the assessment elements (may include previous assignments).

Guest Assistant Professor at Católica Porto Business School, lecturing in the areas of International Business and International Management, in the management degree, in the Master in Business Economics and in the International MBA. Instructor in the X-Culture project (www.x-culture.org), 2014-2016, that aims to develop competences to work in global virtual teams. Extensive experience in management consulting and applied research projects on issues related to internationalization strategies, competitiveness and strategic development. Participation in several business missions to evaluate competition and cooperation opportunities in Eastern European countries and in India, 2004-2006. Coordination of the Scientific Team of Supervisors in the International Internships’ Programme Contacto@icep, 2002-2006. Assistant to the Secretary of State for Competitiveness and Internationalization, 1996-1997.

Leonardo Corbo
Guest Assistant Professor
Católica Porto Business School

 

Guest Assistant Professor of Management (Strategy and Entrepreneurship) at Católica Porto Business School (since October 2015) and Research Fellow at the LUISS Creative Business Center of LUISS Guido Carli University. After earning his PhD in Business Administration from the University of Bologna, he worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at LUISS Guido Carli University. He has been a visiting scholar at Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University and Sauder School of Business, University of British Columbia. His research interests include alliances and networks, business model innovation and new venture creation. Leonardo regularly engages in research and consulting projects in a variety of industries including automotive, air transport, food, mobile payments and logistics. He is a member of the Academy of Management and the Strategic Management Society. Prior to joining academia, Leonardo worked in the marketing department at FIAT’s headquarters in Turin, Italy.
