Researchers from CEGE and Institute of Bioethics publish a scientific article resulting from the work of an international taskforce of the European Association for Palliative Care

Sandra Martins Pereira and Pablo Hernández-Marrero, researchers at CEGE and Institute of Bioethics, together with researchers from the Portuguese Observatory for Palliative Care (Manuel Luís Capelas), Amsterdam UMC, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, and NIVEL: Netherlands Institute for Health Services Research (Roeline Pasman and Anneke Francke), and Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Vaudois, Université de Lausanne (Philip Larkin), just published an original article that resulted from the work developed during five years within an international taskforce of the European Association for Palliative Care (EAPC).

The article, now published in Palliative Medicine, is based on an international survey study involving 25 European countries and worldwide palliative care experts. Recommendations for palliative care education and policy were driven, including the official recognition and certification of palliative care as a medical and nursing specialty in Europe.

Palliative Medicine is currently the top-leading journal in the field of palliative care. It is positioned in the JCR ranking as follows: Health Care Sciences & Services 15 out of 102 | Medicine, General & Internal 31 out of 165 | Public, Environmental & Occupational Health (SCIE) 33 out of 193. Two-year impact factor = 3.739. In Scopus, it is ranked 8 out of 117 in Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine.
