Delfim Ferreira is a Life Sciences Analyst working at McKinsey and Co. and is also currently finishing a PhD degree in Molecular Biosciences at ITQB NOVA.
Completed his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Microbiology at Escola Superior de Biotecnologia – Universidade Católica Portuguesa, having then worked as a scientist in several settings: hospital (Instituto Português de Oncologia), academia (Imperial College London) and industry (Anacor Pharmaceuticals).
With an MBA at IESE Business School and a degree in Computer Engineering at FEUP, he is a professor at the Porto Business School and Faculty of Economics of Porto in the areas of Strategy, Marketing, Green Marketing and Customer Experience.
He is a passionate consultant in the areas of Retail, Mobility, Health and Wellness and Cellular Agriculture. Previously he was responsible for the Nutrition area of the Health and Wellness Department and Commercial Director for Home, Textile and Electronics at Sonae MC. During his professional career, he integrated the management team that launched the Continente Loyalty Card and lead the areas of Customer Marketing, Customer Service and Customer Centricity, with its implementation in different areas of retail (marketing, commercial and operations).
He started his career in the Telco and Auto sectors, working at Salvador Caetano, Optimus and WeDo Technologies. Co-founder of zerozero.pt and Cell4Food.”
MARIA JOÃO MAIA
Co-Founder and CEO of Corium Biotech. Maria João holds a PhD in Cellular Biology from the Université Côte d’Azur, France; a MSc in Cosmetics from the Université Paris-SUD XI and a MSc in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the Universidade do Porto.
She worked for Chanel Parfums Beauté and her PhD project was developed in collaboration with L’Oréal. She has more than 10 years’ experience in skin reconstruction techniques for research purposes.
CTO of Adapttech, has more than 20 years of experience working and successfully completing numerous projects within the Tech and Electronic field, as well as sharing his knowledge as a teacher of Electronics, automation, and programming at the University of Aveiro since 2019.
In 2013, he completed his MSc in the same field, which was preceded by a BSc in Electronic and Telecommunications Engineering at the University of Aveiro. Sérgio is currently a PhD candidate in the field of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the School of Sciences and Technologies of the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro.
As CTO, Sérgio has influenced the development of several P2020 innovation projects and foster R&D activities in multiple companies and areas.
She is the R&D and Innovation unit manager at LIPOR, with a degree in environmental engineering from the School of Biotechnology of the Portuguese Catholic University.
She is an expert in Circular Economy by the European Union (BBI- Biobased industries) and by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT - Portugal).
She is a speaker at national and international seminars and congresses on themes related to innovation management, development of sustainable products, recovery of organic waste, prevention of waste production, sustainable green spaces, sustainable consumption, and social economy. She is a mentor of green start up teams and juri in international green start up competition ‘ClimateLaunchpad’.
She coordinates a working group of the Portuguese Plastic Pact and is highly skilled in biowaste valorisation.
John G. Melo is CEO of Amyris Biotechnologies, a world leader company in industrial biotechnology applications, working to reduce the coast of healing malaria and the carbon low production, the second generation of biofuels.
Previously, he was the President of USA BP Fuels, where he led the major oil marketing, logistics and trade business.
Beforehand he was Director of Ernst & Young, in San Jose, California, and a member of the management team in many startups in the north of California, including Computer Aided Services and Alldata Corporation.
José Fernando Pinto dos Santos is Affiliated Professor of Practice in Global Management at INSEAD/Fontainebleau and “Professor Catedrático Convidado” at UCP/Porto.
José started an early academic career in the seventies, entered the managerial world a couple of years later, and returned to the academic world in 1995, focusing his research and teaching on corporate management and on global innovation.
Over the years, he also taught management courses and seminars at MIT, where he was a Senior Lecturer between 2009 and 2014, and at the Università di Bologna and the University of Cambridge, among others. José is proud to have been actively involved in the creation and ramping up of ESB.
