Objectives

The main objective is to provide participants with a training experience that enables them to develop skills for both developing a real understanding of structural equation models and being able to thoughtfully apply them to their own data.

This course provides a foundation of knowledge and application of Structural Equation Modelling using AMOS, SPSS and other software packages. SEM is a powerful analytical tool within the social sciences since it overcomes the limitations of traditional multiple regression by enabling the simultaneous inclusion of multiple dependent variables, reciprocal effects, indirect effects, and the estimation and removal of measurement error through the inclusion of latent variables in one model.

Students will develop skills in the use of AMOS, path diagram construction, analysis formats, output management and modelling practice.
