Católica recebe mais de uma centena de estudantes internacionais

Entre 7 e 11 de setembro a Universidade Católica Portuguesa no Porto organizou a Semana de Orientação para Estudantes Internacionais. Foram dias intensos que permitiram aos estudantes conhecer a cidade, o campus, mas também para se conhecerem antes do início das aulas. Este ano com medidas de segurança adicionais devido ao COVID-19, a Semana de Orientação incluiu várias atividades ao ar livre como as aulas de surf e o Cruzeiro no Rio Douro.

Os estudantes foram divididos em grupos mais pequenos, por forma a cumprir com as diretrizes das autoridades nacionais de saúde. Os grupos foram formados com base na nacionalidade e prevendo a sua rotação. Os participantes do grupo mudavam de acordo com cada atividade por forma a que no final da semana todos os estudantes tivessem interagido entre si, sem necessidade de grandes agrupamentos.

Neste semestre, a Católica no Porto recebe cerca de 130 novos alunos internacionais que se juntam a uma comunidade já existente de cerca de 230 estudantes, de mais de 20 nacionalidades.

As iniciativas foram organizadas pelo International Office da Católica no Porto, com o apoio próximo da Associação Second Home e dos Buddies (estudantes que se voluntariam para ajudar a acolher.

Católica welcomes over a hundred new international Students this semester

From the 7th September until the 11th of September, it took place at Universidade Católica Portuguesa in Porto the Orientation Week for international students. Those were intense days for the international students that chose our institution and where they learnt about the city and the campus. It was a week about practicalities but also about getting to know colleagues, make new friends and enjoy Porto before classes started.

This year with additional safety measures due to COVID19, Orientation Week included several open-air activities such as surf classes and the Douro River Cruise. Students were divided into smaller groups in order to comply with national health guidelines. Groups were formed taking into account students’ nationalities and turn. Group participants changed according to each activity so that by the end of the week all students had met as many other students as possible without big gatherings.

Second Home Association as well as Buddies from Católica in Porto showed the Students around campus and the town. They assisted the International Office with the organization of the Orientation days and were amazing in welcoming our new students. This semester we welcome around 130 new international students that join an already existing community of about 230 others,  from more than 20 nationalities.
