Portugal in general, and Porto in particular, are well known to the europeans and others, twelve million of whom come annually for a visit. Many of these enjoy its beautiful southern Algarve beaches and warm hospitality, some stay and forge a living for themselves and their families. Still others are transferred to work in the larger towns on behalf of a growing number of multinational companies taking root in Portugal and benefiting from a mediterranean climate.
